The work presented in this section is intended to give the viewer a solid understanding of the look and feel of my illustration work.
I have worked with traditional oil painting techniques for 16 years. Specifically using the glazing and mixed media techniques of the old masters, but also making use of any method that strikes the desired effect in a detail or the entire piece.
The goal is to work together with the client to create work that is rich in detail and compositionally powerful. Generally the client will provide an outline of the themes or ideas central to the project. I then sketch images on paper with pen or pencil. After a sketch is selected by the client, or composited elements from different sketches, a more detailed and accurate rendering is made. After all problems are resolved on paper the painting is begun. The final painting will have a mood and atmosphere that reinforces the theme of the subject.
I have worked in the vein of horror, supernaturalism, ghost stories and the macabre since I was very young. Much of my professional work has been for Death Metal and Black Metal bands in the United States and abroad.
